CASA of Madison County’s mission is to provide volunteer services to assist with the unmet needs of aging and homebound (wheelchair or bedbound) individuals that allow them to remain in their homes and age in place*.
*Aging in place definition: home modifications (like building wheelchair ramps, installing grab bars, using bathroom safety equipment) and services (fall prevention education, transportation to doctor’s appointments) that allow seniors to stay in their own homes instead of moving to an assisted living facility or a nursing home.

CASA is a non-profit agency located in Huntsville, Alabama that provides services to individuals age 60 and older and to the homebound (wheelchair and bed bound) of all ages.
CASA's mission is to provide needed services to aging/homebound individuals that allow them to remain at home and age in place. Our programs are designed to enable the elderly and homebound to maintain their independence, dignity, health and safety by providing services that specifically address their special physical and emotional needs.
The success of CASA's mission relies in no small part to the tremendous support we receive from the local community. All CASA services are provided at no cost to our clients and are based solely on need, without regard to income, race, social status or religion. CASA is a non-profit United Way agency with independent offices located in Madison, DeKalb, Jackson, Limestone, and Marshall Counties of northern Alabama. CASA has been serving north Alabama for over 30 years.

Speaking Engagements:
CASA is always happy to share our story with the community. We can tell you more about our volunteer projects, our services, or issues facing seniors today. We are happy to speak at monthly meetings, classes for civic organizations, school clubs, church groups, fraternities and sororities, scout meetings. These talks can be a great introduction to CASA before your group volunteers. To schedule a speaking engagement for your organization, please contact Ann Anderson at 256-533-7775 to schedule. Let us know if you’d like any visuals (powerpoint, etc.) so we can accommodate your requests.

CASA of Madison County Service Descriptions:
All services are provided at no cost to our elderly and homebound clients
All services provided by volunteers
• Transportation to medical appointments: Volunteer drivers take CASA’s elderly clients to needed medical appointments
• Wheelchair ramp installation: Allow clients to safely enter and exit their home
Built to American Disability Association Standards
• Handrail and grab bar installation: Help clients stay independent and safe in their homes. Typical locations are shower, hallways, stairs.
Crucial in preventing falls. 1/3 of seniors fall every year.
• Minor home repairs: improves our clients’ basic living conditions.
Examples: exterior painting, yard maintenance, changing lightbulbs.
• TEMP$ Weatherization: Makes clients’ homes more energy efficient for the winter.
Typical work: cover windows with plastic, caulk windows, install dead bolts, smoke alarms, and storm doors
• Emergency weather assistance: provides air conditioners, fans, space heaters
• CASA Community Garden: Planted, maintained, and harvested entirely by local volunteers with all produce delivered to CASA’s elderly and homebound clients.
• Telephone reassurance and friendly visiting: Volunteers make regular phone calls and visits to our lonely and isolated clients.
• Safety Net Health Care Services: provide client education, give local workshops and health fairs, recommend durable medical equipment .
Information & referral: refer clients and their caregivers to local agencies.
• Delivery/shopping assistance: Volunteers help grocery shop for clients
May also deliver CASA vegetables, equipment, or CASA-provided groceries
